National Running Show 2018 Ambassador

I'm genuinely thrilled to be an ambassador for The National Running Show 2018. It's an honour that sits perfectly alongside everything we're trying to achieve through ultra-running and endurance adventures – inspiring people to push their boundaries, discover what they're truly capable of, and use their passion for running to make a real difference in the world.

What is The National Running Show?

The National Running Show is the UK's premier running expo and festival, bringing together the entire running community under one roof. Whether you're a complete beginner lacing up your trainers for the first time, a committed marathon runner, or an ultra-endurance enthusiast like myself, there's something for everyone at the show.

It's a celebration of running in all its forms. You'll find the latest kit and gear from leading brands, expert advice from coaches and nutritionists, inspirational talks from elite athletes and everyday heroes, and the chance to connect with thousands of fellow runners who share your passion. There are workshops covering everything from injury prevention to race strategy, from mental resilience to training for your first 5K. It's a place where the running community comes alive.

Why I'm Proud to Be an Ambassador

For me, running has never simply been about the miles or the medals. It's about challenge, personal growth, and the extraordinary power of human determination. When I set out on the Coast-2-Coast run from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay, carrying that pebble across 192 miles through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire Moors, I wasn't just chasing a personal goal – I was driven by something deeper. The same applies to every challenge we undertake here at Brendan Rendall.

Being an ambassador for The National Running Show allows me to champion that philosophy on a bigger stage. It's a platform to encourage runners of all abilities to think beyond the next parkrun or 10K. To consider what a real challenge might look like for them. To recognise that running isn't just a solitary pursuit – it's a community, and it's a force for good.

The show embodies that spirit perfectly. It celebrates the diversity of running, the inclusivity of the sport, and the remarkable achievements of people from all walks of life. That's exactly what we stand for.

Running for Something Greater

One of the things I'm most passionate about is using endurance challenges as a vehicle for charity fundraising. Whether it's our work in Malawi, our Running Africa initiatives, or the various expeditions we undertake, running has given us the platform to raise significant funds and awareness for causes that truly matter.

The National Running Show is full of runners who are inspired, motivated, and ready to take on new challenges. Many of them will be asking themselves: what's next? What's my next goal? That's the perfect moment to introduce the idea that your next running challenge could also be your opportunity to give back, to fundraise for a charity you care about, and to be part of something bigger than yourself.

If you're thinking about tackling an ultra-marathon, a coast-to-coast adventure, or even just pushing yourself further than you've ever gone before, imagine doing that while raising funds for a cause close to your heart. The sense of purpose that comes from running for charity transforms the entire experience. The miles become meaningful. The pain has purpose.

What to Expect

When you visit The National Running Show, you'll encounter:

  • Hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the latest running shoes, apparel, nutrition, and technology
  • Inspirational speakers sharing their stories and insights
  • Interactive workshops and training sessions
  • Expert advice from coaches, physiotherapists, and sports scientists
  • A vibrant community atmosphere where you can connect with other runners

It's a day – or days – where you'll leave feeling energised, educated, and ready to commit to your next running goal, whatever that might be.

Come and Find Me

I'll be at the show as an ambassador, and I'd love to meet runners who are interested in ultra-endurance challenges, charity fundraising, or simply want to chat about running adventures. Whether you're curious about what it takes to run across Britain, interested in our work in Malawi, or just keen to hear some stories from the road, come and say hello.

The National Running Show isn't just about the latest gear or the fastest times. It's about inspiration, community, and discovering what's possible when you commit to a goal. It's about finding your tribe and your purpose. It's about recognising that running can be so much more than a hobby – it can be a life-changing adventure and a way to make a genuine difference in the world.

If you've ever wondered what you might be capable of, or if you've been toying with the idea of running for charity, The National Running Show is the place to get inspired and take that first step. I genuinely hope to see you there.
