Before I set off, my niece kindly gave me a new green bracelet to wear and a minion as my mascot. It was nice to have the weekend in Somerset before I left saying bye to family and friends.
So after months of planning and training I have arrived safely in Malawi and what a welcome.
The flight went surprisingly quickly, we were lucky enough to have a row of 4 seats to lie out on each. I dozed while flicking in between films Carol and Dolphins Tale 2 – I couldn’t concentrate on anything so just drifted in and out…
Quick change at Johannsburg and catch a connecting flight to Blantyre. Time for a quick coffee…
Finally after just less than 2 hours we land to Malawi – the views from the plane and beautiful blue skies were the perfect welcome. The rest of the afternoon was so over whelming, the greeting from FOMO was so special that all the hard work and training became even more worth while. This welcome has given me a new ignited passion and determination why the challenge is so important to the children of FOMO.
First stop was FOMO secondary school, I was greeted with beautiful smiles, dancing and laughter. All dressed ready to run with me I could not help but smile from ear to ear.
This is certainly going to be an incredible 2 months and I look forward to having my 1st run in the morning.
Visiting the plot this afternoon where the science block is going makes this challenge a reality. Thank you so much to everyone that’s donated, shared and making a difference to these incredible children.
Thank You Bren
